Our building plays an integral part of fulfilling our organization’s mission by providing a physical space to share our knowledge, create sparks with other hopeful minds, and support other groups with similar charitable goals. Join us for chance conversations in our library lounge or directed discussions after expert lectures. Together we shall “be just, and fear not.”

Mechanics’ Hall Weddings

Nestled in the arts district, Mechanics’ Hall is the perfect setting for making unique memories. For over two centuries MCMA has supported Maine’s makers – historically providing mechanical and fine art drawing classes – we now utilize our space to teach middle school kids computer coding as well as host local dance groups/classes, music performances, art exhibits, and lectures by leading intellectuals. Hosting your special day here helps to fund these efforts and support the Hall as a gathering and learning space for the community.

“The Mechanics of Portland have at length erected a temple – a place consecrated to science and social enjoyment; a central, substantial, commodious and elegant home. We trust that from this temple shall go forth an influence at once energizing, elevating, perpetual and universal.”

– from the Advertiser in 1859 cited in the 1965 MCMA Constitution
